I’m pretty sure my lovely nephew Sam suggested to my colleagues at work to give me a day in a recording studio a couple of Christmases ago. Got the first song done then I went on a work road trip to New York. Managed to fit in a concert – Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band. Was standing at Hershey Stadium, Pennsylvania near the front and thought these talented maestros are all quite normal looking. So decided to get all the songs I had in my head, on scraps of paper, and rough Garageband demos and get them into shape.
Then one of my oldest mates died. My age, my vintage. That was the next catalyst. So in between running my business, family life and life in general I got my album, Looking for a Song, going. The first of at least three I reckon. Decided to call the performing line up MIDDLEMAN. Brother Brendan Williams on guitar, nephew Nick Walsh on lead guitar, producer Regan McKinnon on bass and drumming maestro Pat Kuhtze on drums. We did a huge (for me) launch cocnert in August 2010. Went down really well so decided to keep going. Definitely got to keep going.
I reckon life’s too short to not do the things you’ve always wanted to do. It would be a pain in the ass to die wondering what might have been.
